Norwegian Hockey Star Michael Brandsegg-Nygård - Drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL

For the first time ever, a Norwegian was selected in the first round of the NHL Draft. On a historic Saturday in Las Vegas, Michael Brandsegg-Nygård was picked by the Detroit Red Wings, becoming the 15th overall selection.

Brandsegg-Nygård is being loaned from the Red Wings to reigning Swedish Hockey League (SHL) champions Skellefteå, where he will continue his development this season.
