Battery Show 2024 in Detroit
The 14th annual Battery Show North America made its highly anticipated debut in Downtown Detroit, showcasing the rapid advancements in EV and battery technologies and marking its largest event to date.
Largest Event to Date and A Shift to Downtown Detroit
For three days, thousands of industry professionals and engineers gathered at Detroit’s convention center to explore the latest breakthroughs in battery technology—advancements critical to shaping the future of electric and hybrid vehicles.
This year marks a significant milestone for The Battery Show North America, as the event has outgrown its longtime suburban venue, reflecting the rapid transformation of the automotive industry. The move to downtown Detroit highlights the growing prominence of electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid technology as pivotal forces in the future of mobility.
Previously held in Novi, Michigan, the event had become a key fixture in the region due to Michigan's deep automotive roots and its rising influence in the electric vehicle sector. The Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi served as the traditional venue, offering a central and accessible location for professionals in the battery, EV, and automotive industries. However, the shift to Detroit underscores the event's expansion and the increasing significance of the EV revolution.
21,000 attendees and 1,250 exhibitors from around the world
The Battery Show and Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo, North America’s premier event for battery manufacturing and electric vehicle technology, concluded last week in the vibrant heart of Detroit. This year’s event attracted over 21,000 professionals from around the globe and featured an impressive 1,250 exhibitors, marking it as the largest gathering since the show’s inception in 2010. Attendees were treated to a showcase of cutting-edge innovations, emerging trends, sustainability initiatives, and advancements in safety. Major industry players such as General Motors, Ford, 3M, TE Connectivity, John Deere, and DuPont were in attendance, underscoring the significance of this event.
Detroit's pivotal role in the automotive sector was evident throughout the expo, highlighting the city's expanding influence in battery and EV technology. Michigan’s automotive industry contributes approximately $225 billion annually to the state's economy, with 83% of that attributed directly to manufacturing. The relocation to Detroit and nearly doubled expo space reflect the growing global interest in advancing clean energy and mobility solutions.
